There are many styles of mending available to repair garments. Visible mending is my specialty, but I also offer lower-contrast and invisible mends.

The style of repair will depend on the garment type (knit/woven), the location of the hole, and the durability needed. Some repair styles can be combined (patch + sashiko, darning + microweave).

The size of holes and complexity of repair technique affects pricing. Prices are calculated per patch and one garment may have several holes to mend, especially if moth-eaten.

Repairs accepted on knits of all weights, including Cowichan sweaters; woven fabrics such as jeans, hoodies, and button-up shirts; and quilted blankets in need of repair.

how the custom mending service works

Step 1: Send me an email with a description of the damage and photos of it to westendmends@proton.me. If you have any ideas for colour, repair style, etc, please let me know!

Step 2: I will respond with a cost estimate. We can discuss repair techniques until we find what works for you. If you want to go ahead, a deposit is required, and applied to the final mend.

Step 3: You can send your item by post or drop it off at my studio in downtown Vancouver (making sure the item is clean and moth-free).

Step 4: Based on our conversations, I’ll select some colour options and send photos off to you, and you’ll make the final choices.

Step 5: Your garment will be repaired using high-quality materials - wool, cashmere, cotton, silk - that match the composition of the garment. All mends are completed by hand and typically take 3-4 weeks to complete. You can choose to pick up your item or have it returned by post.
